Where it started
Exhibit A began the way a lot of good tools do — out of frustration. Its founder was a trader whose record lived in three places that never spoke to each other: trades in a Google Sheet, mistakes and mindset notes in Notion, and position sizing in a separate, dollar-priced app opened in yet another tab. Reviewing a week meant stitching all of it back together by hand, and the honest truth is that after a fortnight, the journal just got abandoned. Not because journaling doesn't work — because the friction around it was heavier than the discipline could carry.
That's the quiet failure most traders know well. Everyone agrees the review is where the edge is built. Almost nobody keeps it up, because the tools make it a chore. So the idea behind Exhibit A was simple: build the one calm place that holds the whole picture, and make reviewing so low-friction that it actually happens.
What we believe
A journal shouldn't just be a diary of wins and losses. It should be evidence — the kind you could lay out on a table and reason from. That means capturing not only the trades you took, but the ones you didn't: the setups you talked yourself out of, and what that hesitation quietly cost. Most journals ignore that entirely. We think the gap between the trades you took and the trades your strategy actually offered is often the single biggest leak in an account — so we made it visible.
We also believe the tool should get out of your way. The market leaders are powerful but dense; new traders describe them as overwhelming, and the price of entry is steep. I built Exhibit A because I was tired of being the bottleneck in my own improvement. I knew reviewing my trades was the thing that mattered most, and I still couldn't make myself do it — the record was scattered, the tools felt like admin, and the honest picture of my trading was always just out of reach.
So I set out to build the platform I actually wanted: one place that holds every trade, shows me the ones I let slip, sizes my next position, and hands the whole thing back to me as evidence I can learn from — quickly, and without the noise. If it helps even a few traders review more honestly and lose a little less to their own habits, it's done its job.
