The right size, before you click buy
Lot size, contracts or units — from your real balance, your risk percentage and your actual stop. Four asset classes, and the maths changes with each one.
Forex sizes in lots from a per-pair pip value. The full working is shown, not just the answer — you should be able to check it.
The problem
A size you worked out on your phone is a size you will get wrong
Most sizing errors are not maths errors. They are the pip value of a JPY cross, the FX rate between your account currency and the quote currency, or the difference between a point and a pip on an index.
So traders keep a separate calculator in another tab — one that knows nothing about their balance, and has to be told it again every session.
And a stand-alone calculator cannot tell you afterwards whether the size you used matched the risk you said you were taking.
How it works
Three inputs and the instrument
Pick the asset class
Forex, indices, commodities or crypto — the instrument list and the maths reconfigure. Non-forex lists are curated, not a scrape.
Set balance, risk and stop
Your balance is already there. Tap 0.5%, 1%, 2% or 3%, or type your own, then enter the stop in pips, points or price distance.
Read the size and the working
Recommended size, risk amount, risk-level meter and the full breakdown behind the number.
Across asset classes
The unit changes, the discipline does not
Forex sizes in lots from a per-pair pip value. Indices and commodities size in contracts. Crypto sizes in units or coins from a price distance.
If your account currency is not the quote currency, set the live rate to match your broker and the lot size comes out right rather than nearly right.
— Forex
Sized in lots, from a per-pair pip value. Stop in pips.
— Indices & commodities
Sized in contracts, from a point value. Stop in points.
— Crypto
Sized in units or coins, from a price distance rather than pips.
The same risk rule, expressed in whatever unit the instrument trades in.
